2010 Hawkesbury Gold Cup Final Field & Barrier Draw

November 3rd, 2010

The 2010 Hawkesbury Gold Cup will take place at Hawkesbury Racecourse in New South Wales tomorrow, the biggest race scheduled for Thursday outside of Victoria where Crown Oaks Day will take centre stage.

The $125,000 Group 3 Hawkesbury Gold Cup (1600m) is set to be contested by a field of 10 middle distance runners, including defending champion Keepin’ The Dream.

Despite having won the Gold Cup here 12 months ago, the Jim and Greg Lee-trained Keeper gelding is one of the roughies in tomorrow’s field, currently paying $41 at Luxbet.

Last year’s runner-up Spinney is also set to return for another go, the Peter Snowden-trained eight-year-old drawn well in barrier one and paying $21 following a last-start sixth to C’est La Guerre in the Craven Plate (2000m) at Randwick.

Two horses are battling for favouritism in the Hawkesbury Gold Cup odds, with Thankgodyou’rehere and Glintz paying $2.40 and $2.60 respectively.

Thankgodyou’rehere has never finished out of the money in their 10 career starts and will have Rod Quinn aboard as the five-year-old gelding seeks his seventh victory.

Meanwhile Glintz has won four races on the trot, the John O’Shea-trained four-year-old having a change of jockeys tomorrow with Christian Reith booked for the ride.

Other quality gallopers worth including in your exotic bets tomorrow are Gai Waterhouse’ Joku and the Hawks-trained Flying Spur seven-year-old Mentality.

Check out the full Hawkesbury Gold Cup odds at Luxbet now before the race jumps as Race 7 at 4:48pm (AEDST) tomorrow.
