The Danske six-year-old was in nice form earlier in the winter when third to Under The Sun in the Listed Winter Stakes (1400m) before their half length win over stablemate Bayrir in the Listed Winter Challenge (1500m) on August 3.

They raced again just last Saturday but didn’t appreciate being ridded forward and wide without cover eventually crossing fifth to Honorius in the Rosehill handicap over 1400m when ridden by Nash Rawiller.

Today for the $125,000 Group 3 Panthers Hawkesbury Gold Cup (1600m) they reunited with regular hoop Jason Collett who rode them far more patiently.

Getting the cover they needed in their position settling second last after the jump, Coup Ay Tee ($5.50) bided their time and let the roughie of the pack Samui Lad ($81) do all the work out front to lead.

Then as they finished off over the final 100m or so he and the Gai Waterhouse-trained former race favourite Julienas ($6) both made their runs at the same time charging home down the outside.

Displaying a powerful ability to finish off Coup Ay Tee got to the line first and had half length to spare over the resuming Julienas winning in a time of 1:39.69.

Finishing off the winning Hawkesbury Gold Cup 2013 trifecta in a close third was then last year’s winner Darci Be Good ($7.50) who got a lovely run sitting third on the inside throughout and maintaing that spot right up to the winning post.

Samui Lad meanwhile ran the race of their life to lead the class field of better fancied rivals right up to the final 50m after which they hung on for a crack fourth place finish adding value to those winning First Four bets.

Coup Ay Tee has now won nine of their 29 career starts and with the $90,000 first prize to the Hawkesbury Gold Cup winner today will be nearing close to the half a million in prize money earned.

They have also set themselves up for a crack at some better races in Sydney and possibly Melbourne over the following months.
