Trainer Chris Waller is set to dominate the running of the 2015 Hawkesbury Gold Cup having included a total of eight of his stable stars in nominations, including Bagman, I’m Imposing and Vilanova.

Posting 12 wins and a further sixteen minor places through his impressive 46 start career so far, Bagman was unable to make much of an impact over his first three starts this time but enters the Hawkesbury Cup off the back of a credible third in the Group 3 NE Manion Cup (2400m) on March 21st.

I’m Imposing hasn’t been particularly consistent this time in but is a proven performer over both track and distance and also carries competitive form into the Hawkesbury Cup after placing a close third in the Group 2 Hollindale Stakes (1800m) on the Gold Coast over the weekend.

Vilanova arguably secured career-best form to date over the 2013 autumn and winter; winning each of the Group 2 Autumn Classic (1800m) and Group 3 Grand Prix Stakes (2200m) and finishing third in the Group 1 Queensland Derby (2400m) most notably.

Laser Hawk didn’t handle the going when failing to beat a single runner home in the Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m) last start but is sure to relish a step-up in distance to 1600m for the 2015 Hawkesbury Gold Cup.

A Group 1 winner having taken out the 2012 edition of the Rosehill Guineas (2000m), Laser Hawk spent more than two years in the paddock with a string of unfortunate ailments but returned during the 2014 spring for several positive results including third in the Group 1 George Main Stakes (1600m).

Having taken out the Group 3 Newcastle Newmarket Handicap (1400m) in his only start this year prior to the All Aged Stakes, trainer Joe Pride has been pleased with the condition of the Artie Schiller gelding over the last week and is confident of a return to competitive form on Saturday.

Kiwi raider Diademe was unable to handle the late pace when eighth in the Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) in her Australian debut on Day 2 of The Championships, but is sure to respond favourably to a step-back in class for the 2015 Hawkesbury Gold Cup.

Posting seven wins and a further eight minor places through her 26 career starts to date, the Savabeel mare booked her ticket to Australia with an impressive run for success in the Group 1 NZ Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes (1600m) on April 4th, in which she was caught wide for the entire race.

The 2015 Hawkesbury Gold Cup final field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday April 29th.
