Gai Waterhouse-trained runner Ecuador ($6.50) has maintained status as favourite in 2015 Hawkesbury Cup betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of Medcaut ($7), Malice and clear market mover Rugged Cross; currently sharing the third line at a quote of $7.50 each.

Will Ecuador justify favouritism and win the 2015 Hawkesbury Gold Cup, or will one of his talented rivals find the line in the clear?

Rugged Cross ($7.50)

Rugged Cross carries winning form over commendable opposition into the 2015 Hawkesbury Gold Cup, is weighted well and is more than worth consideration for a bet at current $7.50 odds for success. Posting five career wins and a further seven minors through his 21 competitive starts, the Cape Cross gelding has been confirmed to be partnered by leading jockey Brenton Avdulla, and is sure to find ideal running position early from the ideal barrier 6.

Bagman ($12)

Brave gelding Bagman host posted several typically good results for Chris Waller this time in and arguably offers punters the best value for money in 2015 Hawkesbury Gold Cup betting markets at current $12 for success or $4 to finish in the first three. Arguably finding career-best form to date through the 2014 autumn, winter and early spring, the son of Easy Rocking won a pair of Victoria minors before finishing third in each of the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) and Group 2 Hill Stakes (2000m); returning to the paddock following a credible fifth in the Group 1 The Metropolitan (2400m). While stepping down half a mile from his most recent start, Bagman’s class is sure to count for a lot in the 2015 Hawkesbury Gold Cup.

Ecuador ($6.50)

Lightly-raced five-year-old Ecuador has returned to racing in typically positive form this time but will need luck in running if any chance from barrier 12 on Saturday. Finishing outside the first three only twice through his 13 career starts, the High Chaparral gelding spent more than a year in the paddock after placing a credible fourth in the Group 2 Ajax Stakes (1500m) in early 2014; returning for a close second to Rugged Cross on April 18th.
